Its Canada day or as I like to call it Tuesday. This is the day all Canucks celebrate their hard fought victory over England to assure independence.
Canada Day is the national day of Canada, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, Today called the 1867 Constitution Act, which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire.
So they asked nicely and received the right to create their own laws. Sounds really Canadian.
Which isn’t to say they are not bad asses. Here is some bad-assery from WW1. During the Second battle of Ypres. The Germans release a new weapon on the Allied lines. Mustard gas. About 170 tons worth. Many of the allied lines broke accept for the Canadian.
Again back to wiki
“Canadian troops were able to defend the flank of the break-in by urinating into cloths and putting them to their faces to counter the effects of the gas. Casualties were especially heavy for the 13th Battalion of the CEF (Canadian Expeditionary Force) which was enveloped on three sides and over-extended by the demands of securing its left flank once the Algerian Division had broken”.
So the Canadians fought back the huns while surrounded on three sides and with urine soaked rags attached to their face. You sir, have earned your man card.
I’m also thinking of my boss. If a nauseous cloud was headed toward me and he advised me to piss on a pad and hold my ground. I don’t think he would be able to finish that sentence before I was gone, see ya buddy. The Officers must have been well respected (or at least quick with using pistols on deserters) to pull that order off.
Happy Canada day to all my Canuck readers. Hope you see plenty of beaver.
Here is some more Red, White and rags for your holiday.
