This week Balls Airsoft boot camp will cover airsoft grenade launchers.
Airsoft grenade launchers offer a distinct tactical advantage to any kind of game. Most situations in the game can be handled with basic equipment but
sometimes, you can find yourself wishing you had another option. Sometimes, you need to take out a target stubbornly hiding behind cover and grenades are a good choice. An airsoft grenade launcher is even better.
Airsoft grenade launcher shells are a self contained system. The shells for game play are gas operated. They fire when the launcher depresses a button at the back of the shell. This releases the gas and expels the projectile.
There are different flavors of shells for your airsoft grenade launcher. First is the shotgun shell types. These are self explanatory and fire several BB’s once launched, an airsoft version of a flechette round. The shells have multiple slots that hold multiple BB’s when fired fire like a shotgun blast. The shells are best used in the defensive.
Another type is the rubber ball shooter that works mostly in the same way except it uses much larger rubber balls instead of BB’s. There are also foam rocket grenade shells which are meant to be aimed directly at your target and do not cover an area in BB’s or rubber balls. Some fields treat these as novelties and unless you hit someone directly with the ball it doesn’t count, others treat them as grenades. If you can get the ball into a room or bunker refs will call the players out. Check before for the field rules.
The final type of shell is the rubber bullet style. These are multiple BB shooter types with an outer sleeve. These shells will normally do both. Either the BB’s or the sleeve
The shells are becoming standardized however there are some brands of shells that wont fit in other brands of launchers. Confirm this before purchasing after market ammo. check individual specifications to make sure you can actually use the shells you’re planning on buying.
